BULL'S Challenger Michael Unterbuchner 24g
Michael Unterbuchner is one of the most successful German darts players of recent years. “T-Rex” has reached the semi-finals of the BDO World Championship twice and was the first German to reach the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts in 2018. He also held a PDC Tour card for two years.
The Munich native celebrated his breakthrough in 2017 when he entered the BDO World Championship, where he made history in January 2018: with a strong run to the semi-finals, he defeated Jamie Hughes, Martin Phillips and Richard Veenstra, among others, before being eliminated by Mark McGeeney. In the same year, he reached the final of the BDO World Trophy and won the Swiss Open - his first BDO title. He also caused a stir at the Grand Slam: After defeating Ian White, Steve Hine and James Wade, he reached the quarter-finals, where Gary Anderson was the last stop.
In 2019, Unterbuchner repeated his semi-final appearance at the BDO World Championship, but was once again unable to make it through to the final. After switching to the PDC, he won a tour card at Q-School in 2021. However, he was mostly unlucky at the Pro Tour events, so that he rarely competed in 2022 and lost the card after two years.
A comeback followed from 2023 at the WDF. Quarter-finals at the Bruges Open and Slovak Open showed that he wanted to attack again. In 2024, Unterbuchner celebrated his first victory on the European Tour at the International Darts Open in Riesa - with a 6:4 win over Luke Woodhouse. He then lost to Stephen Bunting in round 2.
In the same year, he reached two Challenge Tour Finals and won his first Next Gen event. He will also remain active in 2025: he competed again on the European Tour in Göttingen and further starts at major tournaments are planned.
This is Michael Unterbuchner.
A returnee with class. A record holder for Germany. And still far from finished.
