0Martin Schindler has long been more than just a talent - he is a permanent fixture on the international darts circuit and is currently Germany's number 1. His career began in the classic way via the DDV, where he became German Junior Champion in 2014 and secured the men's title two years later. In 2016, he made the leap to the PDC and qualified for several European Tour events. He won his first tour card in 2017 - the starting signal for a steadily growing professional career.
In his debut year on the Pro Tour, Schindler attracted attention with victories over established professionals and reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup of Darts alongside Max Hopp. His singles match against Michael van Gerwen remains unforgotten - even if it was ultimately not enough to win. In the same year, he won his first title on the Development Tour and qualified for the PDC World Championship for the first time.
2018 and 2019 were mixed: although there were good runs - such as the final of the World Youth Championship and a victory over van Gerwen at the German Darts Masters - there were also setbacks. Schindler lost his tour card at the end of 2020. But he made an impressive comeback in 2021: he secured the card again, threw a 9-darter against Raymond van Barneveld and played one of his most consistent seasons.
In 2022 he consolidated his status: several quarter-finals and semi-finals on the Pro Tour, his first PDC final against van Gerwen and a strong World Cup performance with Gabriel Clemens. He also celebrated his first World Championship win, but was narrowly defeated in round 3 by the eventual champion Michael Smith.
2023 marked the next career milestone: two quarter-finals at the UK Open and the World Grand Prix, a European Tour semi-final, World Cup semi-final and numerous other respectable successes.
The big breakthrough on the European Tour followed in 2024: Schindler won his first title in Riesa, followed by his second in Basel. In 2025, he secured his third title on the European Tour at the Austrian Darts Open. He is now the German record holder for ET wins and his consistent performances confirm that Schindler is one of the elite.
His nickname “The Wall” stands not only for his appearance on stage, but also for his development - patient, persistent and hard to beat. With clear goals, growing experience and a cool head on stage, Martin Schindler is a figurehead for German darts - and his journey is far from over.
