Thank You (Not So Bad) - Dimitri Vegas
Arno Merk is a German darts player who made a name for himself at a young age as one of the country's biggest talents. After a surprising participation in the 2011 BDO World Championship and a subsequent career slump, he surprisingly found his way into the PDC Europe Super League in 2023, proving that he is far from having reached the end of his darts career.
In 2010, at the age of 17, Arno Merk became German junior champion and topped the German junior rankings. This was just the beginning of a promising career, which reached its peak in 2011 when Merk unexpectedly qualified for the BDO World Championship. There he met Garry Thompson in the first round, but lost 3:1 and was eliminated early. In the following years, Merk concentrated on national and international PDC Players Championships, but was unable to achieve any notable successes.
After retiring from international darts in 2017 and taking a break for several years, Merk made a surprise return in 2023. He qualified for the PDC Europe Super League, where he reached the last 16 in the group stage, even though he had no chance against Pascal Rupprecht. This was followed by further decent performances at the Q-School 2024 and his first Challenge Tour successes. He took part in a European Tour event for the first time at the European Darts Grand Prix 2024, but lost heavily to Luke Littler.
Despite a few setbacks, Arno Merk remains a tenacious fighter who battles his way back to the top at every opportunity.
This is Arno Merk.
A former youth champion. An unexpected returnee. A tireless fighter.
