Niko Springer, who entered the tournament in Budapest as a qualifier, battled his way through a strong field of players and secured his first PDC title with an 8-7 victory over Danny Noppert in the final.

In his very first match, Springer faced Gian van Veen. Although the Dutchman played strongly with an impressive average of 105.95, Springer took advantage of the key moments. With a brilliant 121 finish and a 14-darter, he went 5-3 up and sealed a 6-3 win on double 16.
In the second round, Damon Heta awaited him. Springer started strong, grabbed an early break, and never let Heta settle into the game. With consistent, accurate finishing, Springer cruised to a dominant 6-1 victory.
In the last 16, the “Meenzer Bub” met Rob Cross. It was a hard-fought battle with both players producing spectacular finishes, but Springer held his nerve when it mattered most and came through with a 6-3 win.
The quarterfinal brought a clash with world number one Luke Humphries. Springer played superbly, including a brilliant 130 checkout and two perfect 11-darters. Even though Humphries leveled the match at 4-4, Springer finished with two outstanding legs to win 6-4 and advance to the semifinals.
In the semifinal, Springer faced the in-form Josh Rock. Both players delivered a tight and thrilling contest. Springer hit back from an early deficit with a stunning 170 finish and, in a dramatic deciding moment, hit double 4 to clinch a 6-5 victory – securing a spot in his second European Tour final.
The final against Danny Noppert turned into a true thriller. Both players held their throw early on before Noppert broke to lead 4-2. Springer fought back, leveling the match at 5-5 thanks to a superb Shanghai finish, and later making it 6-6.
At 7-7, it all came down to a deciding leg. Springer opened with a 180 and held his nerve to produce a brilliant 14-darter, sealing the 8-7 win – the biggest moment of his career so far.
With this triumph in Budapest, Niko Springer not only claimed his first professional PDC title but also secured a spot at the World Grand Prix. On top of that, he now has a great chance of qualifying for the Grand Slam of Darts.
